Tripowin has partnered with one of the legendary audio reviewers in the audiophile world, “Bad Guy, Good Audio Reviews” (also known as Hawaiian Bad Boy), to develop the next ultra-performance, budget in-ear monitor that will shake the market.

Tripowin has been producing some of the most popular audio products for international brands for years, and this technological know-how, combined with HBB’s years of experience with thousands of HiFi audio products, first introduced the Mele. The Mele was beloved by the audio community and set a new benchmark in its category. Now, we bring the next iteration in our partnership - the Olina.

Tried and True: the Carbon Nanotube Diaphragm

The Olina utilizes one of the best diaphragm designs that have been praised in some of the best in-ear monitors of all time. The 10mm carbon nanotube (CNT) diaphragm utilizes an integrative network of carbon tube structures and is considered one of the strongest and stiffest materials in regards to tensile strength and elastic modulus. Previous IEM’s that have used preceding generation of CNT diaphragms were often considered the best tuned and performing monitors. Now, we have obtained the latest generation of CNT diaphragm designs that improves the membrane speed and thereby transient attacks and perceived audio definition.

Monitor Tuning

The Olina is tuned using an acoustic cavity rather than standard rubber sound tubing. This eliminates unwanted harmonic resonance while allowing the sound to seem more life-like and spacious. With a strong and clean bass shelf that resolves into a natural mid section, the Olina is perfect for those looking for a balanced monitor. The pinna gain is matched perfectly to that of the natural ear’s, and the treble is tuned to rescind naturally, while maintaining high detail retrieval and air. The Olina is a combination of one of the world’s best dynamic drivers and most precise tuning.

Aluminum Housing

To precisely obtain the acoustic chamber design, the Olina is constructed from solid aviation-grade aluminum that is precisely CNC’d to deliver its specific sonic properties. The Olina is durable as it is accurate as an audio reproduction instrument.

Premium Detachable Cable

The Olina comes standard with an upgraded silver-plated oxygen-free copper cable. Using a 2-pin connector, the cable is interchangeable, allowing the user to mix and match the cable, as well as ensuring the longevity of the IEM.

Shouty & fatiguing but can be modded

These are shouty and give me a headache straight out of the box, but if you modify them, they sound a lot better.

another one from hbb!! the Olinas

theses iems sounds great and it looks great as well along with bonus postcard* hehe and eartips and above average pouch! another win!

Exceptional Value - Punches 3x above its price...

Similar to Robin's earlier review.... Olina + 7Hz Timeless could easily be an end game pair of IEMs for most people.

I am stunned by the tuning and performance of the Olina. Sound stage, halographic imaging, details, and the beautiful lows, and excellent mid-range.

I love the Olina! If I was to buy one set of IEMs as a gift for another person, the Olinas would be by go to IEM.

Believe The Hype!

Natural sound, very clean with good clarity. Resolution was quite remarkable for the price. Mid-bass is slightly elevated but it still reaches down deep. Very controlled, great texturing/layering. Vocals are slightly forward, instrument separation and imaging is good. Tried on a variety of devices, played well on everything. As for music, it has played everything very well so far and reaches across many genres. Can't really find any fault with it, it's that good.

I am happy with the Olinas.

I changed the tips to Comply 500 rounds. Spinfit's CP500's work well with the Olina too. (The stock tips are probably fine, but I always replace them.) The stock cable is good.
I'm going to use George Winston's song Skating from his Linus and Lucy album to compare the detail of this IEM. There are parts of the song where I can hear a tapping that sounds like I am hearing his fingers hit the keys. I can hear that on the Shuoer Tapes, but not on the Olinas. With that said, I have been hearing new things in songs that I hadn't noticed before with the Olina's. The extra detail that the Tapes deliver comes at the expense of timbre though. The Olinas have a nice timbre. In conclusion, the Olinas have great detail for a dynamic driver, but not as good as the Tapes.
The Tapes sound like the music is in your head. There is a little bit of soundstage/layering with the Olinas. I observed this with both my Acmee MF01 (with a Burson V5i opamp) as well as my Yggy/GS-X mini. Any soundstage/layering out of an IEM is awesome!
The treble is not sibilant or fatiguing on the Olinas. (The Tapes can get fatiguing after a couple hours.)
The mids are fantastic, and this is the strength of the Olinas. Some people are saying the mids can get shouty at higher volumes, but I have not experienced this. They are using the Short Bus mod to fix this. (Put one of the spare filters on top of the existing filter.) I tried the Short Bus mod, but at the volumes that I listen to music at it recessed the vocals and brought the bass and the upper treble forward. The stock form sounds great at healthy listening volumes.
The bass is good if it was intended to be there, but it's not a bassy IEM. Nickelback's song Everything I Want to Do has solid bass, and the Olina does a great job with it. If bass isn't a strong part of the song, then the Olina doesn't produce it though. If a V shaped sound is what you are after, then the Shuoer Tapes are probably a better option.
I am happy with the set.

Great... Until they stopped working.

If they last, these are the best IEMs under $100 in terms of sound quality and response. Mine did not. I had these for one day before they broke. I was listening to a movie in the background while working, and the left side made a pop noise. Literally, a documentary film with one of those monotone professors at low volume while I worked. After the pop, I noticed the IEM started to heat up fast, and I pulled it out of my ear. Obvious signs of a short. I unplugged them immediately, but the left IEM was dead. The source was a PC and a Schitt Magni amp at low gain. In terms of power, it puts out about as much power as any USB dongle someone would use for an iPhone. The amp was unimpacted and continues to work with other IEMs. I have never ordered from Linsoul directly before, so I jumped on their Discord for support. Linsoul immediately blamed me without ever seeing the IEM. Per their reply…

"According to our audio engineers, the earphones may have been damaged due to the use of a high-voltage amplifier. If you also tried to "burn-in" the earphones using the amplifier, the diaphragm may have been burnt and melted. As stated under our Return and Warranty Policy, warranty is not applicable when damage of the product is due to accidents or user mismanagement. However, you can send the earphones back to us for repair. The repair quotation fee can only be given to you after we have received and checked the earphones."

Listening to these at low volume on the popular headphone amp is "user mismanagement." After a whole day of Linsoul getting negative feedback from other customers on their Discord server Linsoul said they would take them back and "check them."

Edit: At first, I was so annoyed I was done with Linsoul and the Olina, but I have decided to send these back for the warranty process without Linsoul guaranteeing they will be replaced. It will take up to 3 business days for Linsoul to reply with the shipping label (weekends excluded). The IEMs must be shipped to China during COVID, clear customs, and then Linsoul will determine if they are covered under warranty. If I waited and ordered these from their Amazon store as I did for 5+ other IEMs I got from Linsoul, I could likely have a replacement within days, if not the next day. These took 21 days to arrive from the time they were shipped. I paid for these in Jan 2021. If I am lucky, based on past shipping times, I may have a pair of working earphones by May 2021, but only if they do not deny warranty coverage.

I’m done

I have the 7hz Timeless and the Olina (and an Etymotic er2 but the fit is something you probably want to avoid). With these I’ve lost all interest in new iems…. I was so satisfied with the Olina, it’s the perfect compliment/alternative to the planar sound of the Timeless. I wish I had just gotten these instead of buying all of this budget and mid-fi stuff. Sorry to Linsoul but I just don’t want to buy anything else ever again lol Even lost interest in the $500-1000 iems I was looking forward to.
