Proper Hi-Fi DAC

ESS Sabre ES9038Q2M DAC chip can be found in multiple Hi-Fi portable players and desktop DACs,providing UA2 with a sound quality significantly higher than any modern smartphone or standard uSB headphone adapter.

Adding Headphone Amplifier

Great DAC needs a matching amplifier, so we added a dedicated headphone amplifier into the UA2, producing more power and cleaner output.our choice was the Ricore RT6863, which was designed especially for use with ESS DACs.

Extra Low Noise

By using a Low-dropout regulator, we managed to control overall levels of a background noise, keeping the sound clear and without any unwanted noise or hiss. ideal for even the most sensitive earphones.

Switch Mode Hi-Fi for Gamers

UA2 was developed with a special mode, that allows it to work with portable gaming consoles.Enjoy your games with better sound quality and more power for your headphones.

Quality

Excellent sound quality and HiRes rendering. The last firmware update solved all problems with clicks on Windows and compatibility issues with my android mobile.

Sometimes it stops working and I have to unplug it and plug it back in to get any function back. This is on a windows PC and seemingly related to multiple audio sources, such as queuing multiple youtube videos. (yes I installed the drivers.) But I guess it works fine if you only stress it as much as an average phone user would.

Five stars

I have several dacs to compare this dac to. I purchased this one to connect to my iPhone to listen to dsd. I would highly recommend this product. Don’t let the price fool you. This dac sounds very good when connected to my phone, headphones and my very expensive speakers.

Excellent When It Works

I've been using the UA2 with a pair of Shure SE846s and I must say the sound quality it brings out on high res tracks is great, it also gives a decent volume boost that makes it useful for listening with larger headphones.

It is however not perfect, I've found that there is an issue where the audio cuts in and out on some devices, particularly on my Windows 10 Dell Inspiron 7566 and Windows 7 Lenovo P50 laptops (I did install the drivers from the Shanling website). It also does cut in and out on rare occasions with my Galaxy S10, although this may possibly be due to a loose connection when moving around with my phone. I'm not entirely sure if the issue is on the UA2 side or my device side since it works flawlessly on my PC (Windows Server 2019) and iPad Pro. But having said that, even with the issues on my laptops it is still well worth the price.

If you are looking to get into high res music I highly recommend the UA2, this is my first high res DAC so I can't really compare to anything else but I can definitely hear the difference. Maybe just be a bit wary that it may not work properly if you plan to use this with a Windows laptop.
