Return of Olina

Tripowin x HBB Olina was a collaboration project that gathered instant success from audiophiles around the globe. For the Olina, HBB (Hawaiian Bad Boy from “Bad Guy Good Audio Reviews”) used his years of experience and large IEM frequency measurement database to develop an acoustic sound signature that is well-balanced, articulate, and enjoyable. For the Olina Special Edition release, HBB has adjusted the tuning to reflect additional insights in his studies of audio tuning and refine the sound of the Olina. With an all new sound signature and a sleek new design, the Olina SE improves on the legacy of the original Olina.

Dynamic Driver Updates

The Olina SE utilizes a second generation of the Carbon Nanotube (CNT) dynamic driver that was first featured in the original Olina. This 10mm driver has been updated to reinforce the diaphragm structure especially at the suspension edges, which increases the surface membrane tension for a quicker driver response. The driver is capable of delivering 10Hz to 40kHz dynamic range for a comprehensive Hi-Fi listening experience.

More Balanced Tonal Signature

The biggest update for the Olina SE is the improvement in the tuning. The new CNT driver in the Olina SE allows a greater sub-bass impact compared to the original Olina, measured by a 3dB increase at 10Hz. This update significantly eliminates the sub-bass roll-off, and allows a more robust and powerful sub-bass punch. Furthermore, the treble of the Olina SE has been refined to eliminate peakiness in the vocal and upper harmonic frequencies. This reflects a more natural treble response compared to the original Olina. Listeners will appreciate a more evenness in the upper frequencies, without any reductions in the detail retrieval compared to the original Olina.

All Aluminum Housing

The Olina SE is characterized by a new and unique logo that is reflective of HBB’s Hawaiian roots. This design has been etched directly into an aluminum faceplate that now matches the aluminum shell. The entire aluminum housing is anodized in sleek black that is resistant to scratches.

Detachable 2-pin Cable

The Olina SE comes standard with a detachable 0.78mm 2-pin cable. A 4-core oxygen free OCC copper was selected as the cable material due to its high purity and electrical conductivity, which reflects in the audio as a more translucent and clear sound. The cable terminates in a 3.5mm single ended plug.

Just okay

The sound of this IEM's are good. But unfortunately for me at least, they do not fit good in my ears. I tried every tip that comes in the package. So, guess I need to try get some after market tip's.

As expected and more

I used to daily drive a Behringer HPM1000 with U-phoria UM2; Using the same audio interface with the Olina it's a new and much better experience by far, great IEM overall! (from a person coming from a HPM1000)

Lost in the Tide

I own the Whizzer HE01, Aria 2021, T3+, Olina OG and most recently, the IE200. The Olina SE is priced about two thirds of what I got the IE200 for, and slightly more than any of the others. The Olina line aims to beat the rest in technicalities while replicating their popular tuning curve to some extent. However, despite managing to do so by just a hair, the IE200 is leagues better in technicalities (soundstage, realism etc) while costing only a fraction more. Moreover, the Olina SE has lost the magic of the Olina OG's alluring vocal performance in trying to strike a more bass focused tuning, rendering its mids sounding congested in complex passages (a common complaint). Purely in terms of tuning (after full optimization including tip and cable swaps for all the IEMs), the T3+ is subjectively more natural-sounding, immersive and enjoyable in comparison. So is the IE200, and the latter steamrolls the Olina SE in technicalities too. In this merciless arena constantly being filled with new gladiators, I simply do not see the point in the Olina SE's existence

Brushed-up version of Olina with a more open soundstage and excellent localization

With the Olina SE, Tripowin has brushed up on the well-established Olina and improved the audio specs. Basically, the change from Olina to Olina SE can be seen as an evolution, and it shows the solid insight of Tripowin and HBB who worked with them. However, the sound was not necessarily a perfect supercompetitor of the Olina, especially in the midrange, where the original Olina was slightly superior.

Best IEM about 100 USD!

A very good IEM that competes with much more expensive products. I highly recommend. It can be an end game for many users!

Almost perfect (4.5 Stars)

Purchased as an upgrade to the HBB Mele, because I wanted a little more treble and sound stage but a little less bass and warmth.
Pretty decent cable and a nice case.
All metal shell similar in shape to the Mele but slighlty lighter, not as thick and with a different nozzle angle.
Getting a good fit and seal requires some fiddling about and then they are ok.
In contrast the Mele and Thieaudio Legacy L2 just slips straight in and fit me better and more comfortably.
Noise isolation is better in the Mele and L2, and a little less than average here.
Sound stage is also average and less than the L2.
Less warm and bassy than the Mele and a little less warm than the L2.
Better than the Mele and mostly better than the L2, for the following reasons;
Superior imaging.
Cleaner bass.
Cleaner sounding, with better resolution and micro detail.
However sometimes there is just a tiny bit too much treble and some music sounds better with the L2 because of that added warmth.

I only Need Olina x HBB SE with their 2-pin cable, what i should select?

If in the product selection I choose the one that says "Olina SE", will I only receive the IEM pair (without 2-pin cable, and without case)?

I ask this because, in the different product selection options, there are:

- Olina SE & Tripowin Grace Cable & Case
- Olina SE & Tripowin Grace Cable
- Olina S.E
I only need the IEMs with the 2-pin cable, but I'm not sure whether to order "Olina SE" or to order "Olina SE & Tripowin Grace Cable"

Great set overall

-Olina se is really compact and will fit most ears, however, the nozzle is on the short side and I've been having problems getting a proper seal, especially in my right (rather large) ear. YMMV

- The set itself is well made and feels solid enough, it's quite pleasant to look at, the included case is nice, the cable is thin, a bit tangly and feels (not necessarily is) flimsy but does its job fine, included eartips just feel cheap, no success in getting a proper seal with them which is my main gripe,

- the stage is definitely Olina se's strength at this price point, imaging is good, it resolves well on busier tracks,

-the set feels neutral with added bass that to me is adequate but at times feels a little "out of place" and "incoherent" with the rest of the mix on some tracks but it's a nitpick at this price point, It's by no means bad but it rumbles rather than slams compared to something like the s12.

- mids are great, decently full-bodied, no nitpicks here, sounds good on acoustic tracks etc

- treble is good, never too shouty, adds nice contour and timbre

-they are somewhat similar to the titan s, comparable detail and overall feel but with a wider stage and more bass than that set, I liked dunu accessories more

Get it if you like acoustic tracks, genres like jazz, soft rock etc
This iem can bop when pushed so you can daily it as a fun all-rounder too, though I don't think it was meant for that. One of my favorites so far!
