It somewhat lifeless in compare to my BTR3 or even off brand dongle, that was way smaller and cheaper then this. It's not bad, but I was hoping for more.
These have excellent sound for the price. Sound quality improves quite a bit with EQ (as one might expect). Build quality and fit and finsh are decent for this price point. I have the Mecha edition and I like the colors, though the housing may seem cheap if you are used to more expensive IEMs. The cable is better than on the Chu but not as good as the cable that comes with more expensive IEMs. I have several sets of IEMs in the 100ish USD and below category and these are my third favorite after my Aria SEs and Letshuoer D13s. I place them above the Moondrop Chu due to the 7Hz Zero having a less metallic treble reproduction while being less fatiguing. The Zero also takes EQ a bit better than the Chu. For testing, I used the 7Hz Zero with several DACs, (2 AKM and 1 ESS). The Zero is one of the few that I liked with the ESS a little more than the AKM.
I have a few headphones, a pair of earbuds that cost 250$, headset that cost 150$, and now these. I will say, my favorite will still have to be the 250 BUT, the 7hz Zeros are just barely behind them. The sound quality is amazing, the clarity, the bass, perfectly tuned earphones. Its ridiculous that it only cost 20$.
They're ~20$, sound great, and Comfortable for 6+ hours straight. Ive used them daily at work and have no complaints. I can't imagine you can do better for the money.
Out of the box, the sound is very warm. To the point where they lack clarity in the mids and treble.
Earcups don't swivel, creating an uncomfortable fit.
But if you're willing to EQ this pair, and install nuggets to the headband they can sound pretty good.
