The treble is calculated to perfectly match the ear’s pinna perception, providing a crisp articulation to vocals and instruments. The treble is tuned to feature a smooth decay curvature, providing the necessary detail retrieval while being pleasant to the ear.

Sprinkle some Stardust for some classy magic!

The Kiwi Ears Stardust is warm-neutral, well balanced, with a smooth, cohesive presentation that leans controlled and natural rather than aggressively energetic. The low end has good sub-bass presence, though that is more about depth than rumble, which is more natural, and appears when called upon, as the 8db shelf suggests, and a rounded, if not a touch soft, mid-bass that's nimble, snappy, and relatively resolute, with good transient speed and a subtle but fun punch, that gives the Stardust physicality without becoming bass-heavy or too impactful.

The midrange is warm, clean, detailed, organic, and ever so slightly forward, with particularly good vocal weight and natural timbre. Male vocals have heft and body, while female vocals are especially smooth and emotive, although the softer upper-mid note edges can take a little bite away from more aggressive voices and guitars. The treble is smooth and free of fatigue, with enough incisiveness, crispness, and natural extension and energy to preserve some detail without becoming sharp or strident. There is limited sparkle and air up top, so this isn't something that's necessarily open sounding or shimmery, but the Stardust favors smoothness over outright crispness or airiness, and it can leave treble connoisseurs wanting more bite. For me, I didn't mind it at all, and I especially love my treble. The treble was no trouble, and sensitives will appreciate it's smoothness and natural tonality.

Stage width is excellent, with the occasional floaty notes outside the ears, and accurate placement and enough space to keep individual instruments well sepaarated, but it isn't that dimensional or deep, with limited height, and not very holographic presentation. Imaging is precise enough for the price with a musicality within the stage that is neither lush or congested. The dimensionality is more intimate than orbital, but other than the occasional floaty notes, as mentioned earlier, it's not the most captivating or expansive stage. The Stardust though, is very cohesive, and for a 1DD + 4BA hybrid priced where it is, that cohesion is one of the more surprising elements of this set. The Stardust is tuned for musicality rather than technicalities, with warm bass, organic vocals, smooth treble, that still doesn't skimp on detail retrieval or note resolution. This isn't a detail monster or a stage monster, but the Stardust simply provides a musical gateway at a very affordable price, that delivers coherency, naturalness, smoothness, punchiness, and vocal prowess, in a warm, balanced package. I have listened to the Kiwi Ears Stardust relentlessly since I got them. Why? They are excellent all-rounders, and I've actually taken them out as my main set for DoorDashing on three different occasions, and the reason is simple -- For $79.00, my performance is NOT taking a back seat. I can listen to my metal albums, and the Stardust delivers. Reggae? Check. How about acid jazz or contemporary instrumental jazz? No problemo. It can deliver. Even hip hop or pop don't take back seats. The Stardust is a gatekeeper in the budget sector, and I'm not shy about proclaiming that. Was I right to tell James I felt they were special, and would be a disruptor? I say with absolute assurance...YES. The Stardust is a well tuned 1DD + 4BA, and priced where normally you're getting what you pay for. What you get here is a sprinkle of classy magic! These sound way classier, natural, and coherent than most any other set in it's price range, and with that said, I stand by my words. This is a gatekeeper, it's special, and it deserves a place in any music lover's collection. You'll find it hard to put down.

Much More Than I Expected

I bought the Kiwi Ears Stardust without expecting too much, although the five drivers per side definitely caught my attention. After spending some time listening to them, I have to say they really surprised me.

The first thing I noticed was the bass. It is deep, present and dynamic, but it never gets in the way of the rest of the music. Vocals sound natural and enjoyable, while the highs have plenty of detail and air without becoming harsh or annoying.

What I like most is how well everything works together. They do not have that slightly artificial sound I have sometimes heard from multi driver IEMs.

They are also lightweight, comfortable and very easy to use with a phone or a small DAC.

For around $70, I think they are a really good buy. They are not perfect, but they sound good with pretty much any kind of music, and I can listen to them for hours without getting tired.
