The THIEAUDIO Cypher is a mature, well-built open-back headphone with a clear identity. The unboxing is good, the case is genuinely useful, the pads are comfortable, the cable is good, and the sound is clean, controlled and easy to enjoy.
Its biggest strength is how naturally it fits into longer listening sessions. It does not rely on exaggerated bass, oversized stage or aggressive treble to get attention. Instead, it offers a smooth, musical and stable presentation that still works after the first few tracks.
The 50 mm dynamic driver is very well controlled. At higher volume, the Cypher stays calm, full and pleasant. That is not always the case with headphones that try to sound impressive too quickly.
For anyone looking for a refined, comfortable and musically tuned open-back, the Cypher is easy to recommend. And if you already like THIEAUDIO’s IEMs, this feels like a very natural extension of that world.
I keep catching myself smiling a little while listening. Do you know that moment when you do not immediately need to analyse every frequency range because the tuning simply feels intentional and complete, and you just enjoy the music? If that is what you are looking for, you can go for this without much hesitation.

I wasn't looking for another headphone with boosted bass or exaggerated detail. I wanted something that would simply let me enjoy my music, and that's exactly what I found with the THIEAUDIO Cypher.
The first thing that struck me was the build quality. It feels solid, premium, and well made. The aluminum earcups, soft velour pads, and suspended headband give the impression of a product built to last. The clamp is a little firm when it's new, but after a few days it became much more comfortable. I've worn it for hours without feeling the need to take it off.
What really won me over, though, is the sound. The Cypher doesn't try to impress you in the first five minutes. Instead, it grows on you. The bass is deep and controlled, never overpowering the music. The midrange is outstanding, with vocals that sound natural and instruments that have the right timbre. The treble has plenty of detail but never becomes harsh or fatiguing, even during long listening sessions.
I also love the way it presents space. The soundstage feels natural rather than artificially huge, and instrument placement is easy to follow. Live recordings and acoustic music sound especially convincing, but I've also enjoyed classic rock, blues, jazz, and orchestral music through it.
Another pleasant surprise is that it's easy to drive. It sounds good even from a quality DAC dongle, but it clearly scales with better equipment.
Is it perfect? Not quite. I would have preferred a more protective carrying case and a modular cable with balanced terminations. Still, those are small complaints compared with everything the Cypher gets right.
For me, this is a headphone that puts the music first. Instead of constantly reminding me how much detail it can produce, it simply lets me relax and enjoy my favorite albums. That's exactly what I was hoping for, and it has easily become one of my favorite headphones.
The Thieaudio Cypher doesn't aim to dazzle you with exaggerated, artificial brightness or artificial soundstage bloating. Instead, it impresses with robust mechanical finesse, high-end material choices, and a fatigue-free sound profile tuned for serious listeners who value tonal accuracy and smooth listening above all else.
