Yanyin Canon Pro – Refined Audio Excellence

Drawing on years of tuning expertise from the Canon series, this model takes an innovative acoustic approach by integrating two additional balanced armature drivers. The result is a further extended frequency range and enhanced clarity across sound layers and details. Building on a well-established tuning foundation, the Yanyin Canon Pro faithfully reproduces every note, delivering an authentic recording experience.

All-New Upgraded Design

Featuring a liquid silicone suspension edge paired with an LCP dome diaphragm dynamic driver, the bass resonates like a steady heartbeat—deep and powerful, infusing each melody with invigorating energy. Two additional balanced armature high-frequency units deliver crisp treble, while the increased driver count enhances both pressure and sound density. With a robust midrange, the seamless integration of lows, mids, and highs invites you to lose yourself in the music.

Premium Hi-Fi Cable

Crafted from high-quality single crystal copper, this cable features a single-core 22AWG design with 140 strands precision-braided into four groups, paired with refined alloy hardware. The result is a lightweight, comfortable, and durable cable that delivers near-flagship-level sound clarity, providing a pure and unadulterated audio experience.

Meticulous Craftsmanship in Every Detail

From material selection to refined workmanship, every detail has been carefully honed. Yanyin Technology’s uncompromising quality standards shine through in the Canon Pro, ensuring both reliable quality and stable performance. Even with the added complexity of additional drivers and intricate frequency division, two tuning switches have been thoughtfully retained to accommodate a variety of musical styles, giving you more flexibility in your listening experience.

Switch Explanation

The switches are designed for bass control. The headphone's frequency response functions like a seesaw—excess bass can mute the highs, while reducing bass naturally brightens them. However, the adjustment switches are not equivalent to tweaking an EQ; they employ an electronic crossover method, ensuring no distortion occurs. Note that each setting offers a different impedance, with the high-frequency mode having the highest impedance and the pop mode the lowest.

Yanyin Canon Pro Review - A very specialized tuning

Bass:
The Canon overall has a very very clean bass presentation. It’s subbass over midbass, leaning heavily towards subbass and tucking at around 200hz. The 2 switches control the overall bass quantity of the Canon Pro. There are basically 3 tunings for you to choose from with various degrees of bass quantity. During this testing, I always use the most bassy tuning as I found the other 2 have way too little bass.
When listening to my subbass testing tracks like “Why So Serious” – Hans Zimmer, I can feel the subbass drop at 3:27 very vividly. It has a really deep extension with a lot of air to them. The rumbles feel very well defined, tight and not flabby/pillowy. With “Chameleon” – Trentemoller, the Canon Pro again shows an impressive control over the bass region, the bass trip feeling very bombastic overall. EDM or Phonk tracks would sound great with the Canon Pro. That being said, I’d say the subbass region would need a few more db for me to categories it as “for basshead”
Midbass wise, it’s… lacking. Mostly in terms of quantity. I’m sure this is deliberate according to the tuner’s intention – to seemingly boost the clarity for the midrange - but for me, when listening to tracks that have a lot of drums and kick to them, they don’t feel very authoritative nor feeling forward. I would however give some points to the bass quality, as they do feel very responsive, have good transients and actually can blend in well with the BA drivers. After listening for a while, my ears do get used to this new clean presentation of drums reproduction, but when switching to another iem that has more midbass emphasis, I was like “Yeah… I missed this”
The whole bass region feels very reference-y, as opposed to being fun sounding or standing out on its own.
Midrange:
Clean. Extremely clean. I’d say the midrange and the vocals are undoubtedly the star of the Canon Pro. Like I mentioned above, the midbass was toned down a bit, so you’d get a clean transition from the bass to the lower mid region, resulting in a clean midrange with a lot of clarity to them. Better yet, the pinna gain isn’t heavily boosted either in order to have a forward and clean vocal. It doesn’t need to be boosted, since with a lower bass region, you can feel the vocals better without relying on a heavy boosted 1-3 khz to “feel” the high pitch vocals like some other well-known Harman-ish tuned iem.
For example, when listening to “Better When I’m Dancing” by Meghan Trainor, a pop song with a very joyful vibe to it, her voice sounds very clear and forward and stands apart from the background beats and drums. It has a very clean, non boomy beat so her voice stands out even more. Other female vocals like Adele, Celine Dion, sounds very lively and energetic, yet not sounding harsh.
That said, some vocals do sound a bit thin, like when listening to some classic Frank Sinatra or Michael Buble tracks, their voices don’t have that classic lush, chesty characteristic to them.
Another bonus part is that sibilant is almost non-existent with the Canon Pro, testing with Ed Sheeran’s “Shivers” and Bon Jovi’s “It’s My Life”.
Instruments that reside mostly in the midrange have a very natural timbre to them. With “Cold” – Jorge Mendez, piano especially sounds soft and smooth while violin in the track “Tempest” and “Encounter” of “Blast of Tempest OST”, sounds quite alive and engaging.
Treble
The Canon Pro has a very extended treble region. There seems to be a lot of upper treble energy, giving the Canon Pro that crisp, resolving and airy feeling. It weirdly doesn’t feel too sharp or edgy. Percussion instruments in the track “Caravan” – John Wasson, although the attack doesn’t have that much physical feedback to them (I blame the low midbass quantity), the decaying has a very nice shimmering and sparkly feeling to them. They feel very forward in the mix.
At higher volume though, the Canon Pro does get to me, feeling a bit more fatiguing overtime.
Technicalities
The Canon Pro has a well above average technical performance, with good sense of depth and greater width and height. Imaging and layering are also quite well done. The Canon Pro certainly done service to tracks that specializes in spatial cues like “Swashers” and “Bubbles” by Yosi Horikawa.

best in ears overall

the way you can change sound with four different positions makes them the most versatiles iem overall!

Beautiful overlapping sounds continue forever

I felt a sense of hierarchy of sound many times while listening to the Yanyin Canon Pro. The sounds don't just blend together, they overlap. I could feel the layers of sound.
Pachelbel's Canon is said to be characterized by the same melody being played over and over again.
Perhaps the overlapping of sounds felt with the Canon Pro was inspired by this song? It can be fun to enjoy the Canon Pro while imagining such things and finding your own interpretation.

Beautiful vocals

These earphones are characterized by their tight, deep bass and beautiful female vocals. What's more, they look very beautiful, and just looking at them is satisfying. The sound quality leans more towards the mid-low range, with the bass reproduction being high in the low range and the vocals being reproduced beautifully in the mid range. However, the high range doesn't come out very well, which was the only point that I felt was a bit disappointing. However, the overall quality is very high, so I don't think it's a loss to buy them.

Yanyin Canon Pro - Another masterpiece for audiophiles from Yanyin?!

Yanyin Canon Pro - Another masterpiece for audiophiles from Yanyin?!

The headphones were tested on factory settings 1 on, 2 off.

Today I will begin to describe the sound of the headphones in a musical composition that you all know very well.
Test track: Zemfira - Why
After the intro, the headphones demonstrate tightly packed low frequencies, there are a little more of them than in the original, the sound is euphonious and does not break the composition.
At the end of the first verse, the vocals are clearly audible in the echo of the room, not all headphones can boast of such a nuance.
Immediately after the first verse, there is an interruption with percussion.
The percussion is heard clearly and distinctly, at the end of the interruption, you can easily distinguish a change in the rhythmic pattern.
Some headphones blur this change in rhythm and make it almost unreadable, but these headphones cope well.
At the very beginning of the second verse, there is a hit on the cymbals, they sound in the background, a little further than in the original, but at the same time have elongated loops and decent detail.
In the verse before the chorus, brushes appear on the drum kit in the background.
The ESS chip's special feature is to pull such sounds a little closer to the foreground.
These headphones clearly demonstrate this feature of the DAC amplifier, other models often do not do it so diligently.
In the second part of the chorus, Zemfira is echoed by a male voice on the back, it is clearly audible, on some other headphones it is generally barely noticeable.

Simultaneously with the second part of the chorus, a tambourine appears.
Here it is played correctly and clearly, with a sufficient amount of metal in the sound, although a little thin.
In some other models of headphones, there may not be enough metal, or the sound of the tambourine may be barely distinguishable and blurred.

And now let's move on to the usual description.

Yanyin Canon Pro - this is a smooth sound with the right resolution, slightly warm presentation and tonal balance.

The headphones provide quite a lot of detail in the high-frequency range, slightly coloring the upper octave with long trails and light brilliance.
The shade of the tails of the attenuations is golden.
Good detailing is demonstrated in percussion and cymbals.
There are no sibilants, the headphones are comfortable even at high volume.
In heavy metal, the cymbals are separate, the details are well worked out.

The middle is slightly softened, barely warmer than neutral, well filled with information.
Acoustic instruments have a certain smoothness and warmth, have a velvety shade.
The timbres are beautiful, with a romantic bias, there is obvious embellishment.
In terms of musicality, Yanyin Canon Pro very tasty finishes the sound of live instruments.
In rock music, electric guitars are legible, the texture is felt on overdrive.
In general, the midrange frequencies are rich, well saturated with density and details.
The headphones play metal well, if you add more attack, sharpness and aggression it will be perfect.

Low frequencies are massive, have a high density, their volume is controlled, they do not sound smeared, but on the contrary, they are quite collected and at the same time well textured.
The headphones take the lower limit of 20 Hz as stated.
The sub-bass is correct, one can say almost in reference proportions.
The orchestral drum sounds noticeable.
There is enough tactility in orchestral music.
In general, regarding the orchestra, the headphones are good at showing macro and micro dynamics, as well as the integrity and scale of the work.

The vocals are large, lively, transmitted specifically to the listener, have a softened, so to speak, honeyed shade.
There are no sibilants even in low-quality recordings.

The stage is large, wide.
The extension in depth could be greater, the echeloning is clearly visible.
The space is filled completely.

Yanyin Canon Pro - leave a very pleasant impression, there is a feeling that the sound engineers tried to achieve the most expensive sound.
If you characterize this model in two words - beautiful and comfortable sound.
The headphones are definitely worth taking note of by audiophiles!
