series takes the most trusted and established knowledge and designs available in the industry, and presents them in a refreshing and refined manner. Focusing on three primary values - musical tuning, high-fidelity sound quality, life-like listening experience - Thieaudio’s new project aims to redefine the true potential of in-ear monitors for both enthusiasts and professional musicians. So we welcome you to step in, and open your ears to a world of audio like nothing before.
The Thieaudio Legacy 3 was designed to provide an affordable in-ear monitor that would take no cuts in build or audio quality. While the Legacy 3 is an entry model into the Legacy series, its sound is the culmination of all of our skills and knowledge until now, and it falls nothing short of top of its class. In approaching the tuning of the Legacy 3, it had to be balanced and audiophile-grade in order to meet the Legacy series’ standards
The proprietary 10mm Nano-Membrane dynamic diaphragm driver used in the Legacy 3 is the same high-quality driver as that of its older brother, the Legacy 9. The result is a coherent treble response that extends far, retrieves every detail, yet lacks any unnecessary dips or peaks. The resulting tuning is extremely balanced, with a powerful bass, slightly warm but clean mids, and detailed, yet coherent trebles. We could not be more proud of the Legacy 3’s sound, and for this reason, we believe it is a solid foundation for the Legacy lineup.
For the Legacy 3, we decided to go with a custom mechanical watch faceplate design. Each Legacy 3 is hand built from medical grade resin, and actual watch components are arranged by hand on the faceplate, before being sealed with resin. The result is an extremely detailed and elegant look, one that is different for every Legacy 3. Each earpiece takes almost an entire day to build, and the outcome is something that no mass produced product can ever achieve
The Legacy 3 was paired with a custom 7N 8-core OCC copper cable made specifically for the Legacy 3. We chose copper as it emphasizes the smooth and warm characteristic of the IEM, bringing to life the detail and texture within the sound. You won’t have to worry about buying any other cable for the Legacy 3.
Thieaudio was launched in 2019 as a creative endeavor of Linsoul Audio. The goal of Thieaudio was to serve as a creative platform for gathering the best teams of engineers to inspire revolutionary audio products for audiophiles and professionals alike. For each project, we hand select the most innovative and renown engineers in his or her field to oversee the design, engineering, and manufacturing of the products. The first chapter, the Thieaudio Phantom, drew overwhelming praise from the international community and was even applauded as the new standard for planar magnetic headphones by some. Gathering this momentum, we are proud to present the next chapter of Thieaudio - the Voyager and Legacy series. Headed by master audio engineer Chongjun, these new series of In Ear Monitors were created to bring about unparalleled sound performance that would rival the leading international brands. The Voyager series was designed as the launch of Thieaudio’s pursuit in the realm of in-ear monitors, and features some of the most innovative techniques we have to offer. We believe the Voyager series may be more suited for musicians, while the Legacy series may better fit audiophiles and music enthusiasts.

Although priced at an accessible bracket, we are fully confident that the Legacy 3 can compete against any in-ear monitor in every price range. In order to make the Legacy series stand out, each model gets a unique (and oftentimes a boutique custom add on for other brands) design. It’s an extra expense we are willing to take in order to make the Legacy lineup truly a lasting legacy of our brand. Handmade and selected faceplate, custom cable, there’s no reason you can’t fall in love with this delicacy even with a glimpse of look!

I’ve been using IEM’s steadily for three years to date. I recently bought a pair Legacy 3’s. I’m super impressed with the quality of the triple driver placement especially for the price I paid. Up until this purchase, I exclusively used Shure IEMs. Particularly SE425’s and I really didn’t think I would find myself looking to the Legacy 3’s. Don’t even think about it just buy it, I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Also if you are a mix engineer and like to do things “in the box“ I am even more blown away with how flat these drivers work. I now have advocate for them as a good reference headphones when tracking or mixing for broadcasts
I had ear moulds made locally for $25, shipped them to China USPS for $50 and received my IEM’s about a month and a half later. They look great! Listening to them I noticed I wasn’t getting a perfect seal unless my mouth was closed, or I had more natural oils in my ear, but that was because the audiologist had me close my mouth during the mold process (to prevent IEM slippage). She gave me Comply wraps to try first as applying acrylic could be problematic. Comply wraps sounded great but didn’t last and cost too much, so NexCare waterproof tape cut in half wrapped 1 1/2 times is working great. I might try acrylic, might not. I don’t want to mess them up. Now, I love the sound, love the fit, love the look. I have the universals too and currently (after tweaking the customs fit) they sound basically the same. Other reviewers say the customs sound brighter but that was only true for me without a perfect seal. I highly recommend these for bassists and drummers or basshead audiophiles who want to try customs but don’t find it reasonable to spend more than $250 to get them. Thank you Linsoul!
We, who are in this hobby, buy many iems to find the perfect one to our liking. Legacy 3 will be one of those perfect ones for a lot of people. The cohesive musicality is spectacular, especially for a hybrid iem at this price range. The sound signature is balanced with a hint of warmth to it. The presentation of music is from a distance to your brain, as a result, this is a relaxing iem to listen to.
Imaging is great; every instrument has their designated space. Soundstage is average for the price point, neither special nor lacking. Instrument separation is very admirable too, but you’ll definitely realize the detail retrieval is not strong enough to compliment that properly. If you are sensitive to treble, this iem is a god given gift to you. It just sounds right in the treble section. What I mean is you won’t miss any treble detail. But, they are not fatiguing or harsh to listen to. The mids are just so smooth and forgiving. I listen to 70s/80s band a lot. A mix of distorted guitar and often poorly recorded albums. Many iems fail to capture the soul of this genre as they often times focuses on the wrong things, and makes them sound lifeless/harsh/hollow/tiny. But, not the Legacy 3. They are your perfect head-banging iem. The guitar notes are thick and the male vocals are lively. In the low region, it’s a star of a performer. Many have praised them, I will too. The sub bass is good. The transition to mid bass is well done. The bass is tastefully done to a level that even bass head might like them.
Cons: Cable is rubbery and microphonic. The notch in the iem shell may cause discomfort to you depending on your ear shape - they are made to be universal, but this type of notch design is certainly not perfect for everyone, you might get unlucky. People who like bright iems, will not find this iem to their liking. Not for monitoring, as it lacks micro details.
Overall: A great musical iem from Thieaudio. If you like warm smooth sound signature, it's a no brainer. A good side upgrade to famous Shure SE215 with similar sound but slightly better in almost every aspect.
No audiophile, but sounds pretty good, quite a ways bassier than my previous IEMs, but not necessarily overpowering. For the music I listen to and gaming, the bass is not a detriment.
The included cable has an L-bend where it connects to the earpiece, and for my ears it pokes the top of my ear instead of wrapping around, causing some comfort issues since I can't seat the earpiece properly in my ear. I tend to wear them with the wire not wrapped behind my ear now. A straight connection would have been better here. Otherwise the cable is nicely malleable and I don't observe any quality issues.
If your research landed you here, you do good research, and they do what the spec say well. I was new to this brand but the quality of the legacy 3 make me feel ok about the upgrade. Going to save up and buy the legacy 5 CIEM. Shipping was not too long.
At first I did not know what to make of them, because they sounded so different to everything I own. But now that I've had it for a month it has become one of my favorites. The highs are the highlight of the L3 for me , the smallest of the two balanced armatures is a tweeter and it is incredible at detail retrieval. Bells, trumpets and guitars sound very life like. I wish that the bass was more controlled and tighter. The fit is almost perfect , I wish it came with slightly smaller tips, but the plastic shell locks into the ear well, it can cause a pressure point on one of my ears. However I still can wear them for 6 hours without any major discomfort.
I got my pair late April, 2020. Recently, I picked up another pair during 11.11 because I love them that much (and because the old one is falling apart, slowly).
My 1st pair is a sub-100 serial # unit, and it's plagued with problems.
1) the dip switch are just for gimmicks. The 1st switch doesn't do anything, while the 2nd cuts down bass and treble by 1 dB or so. Absolutely unlike the graph published by BGGAR on his unit, and subsequent graphs made by others confirm this.
2) very loose 2-pin connectors. They always manage to get loose and fall off of my ears onto the floor randomly. As a result, both the raised connector shield on both ear pieces have cracked and chipped off. That said, the cable can still be connected, and the IEM works fine even after 5-6 waist-height drops.
Sound-wise, the L3 is neutral with boosted bass for my ears. It could use some more treble though. Bass is quite slow, muddying up and lacking detail. However, it has weight, and it gives the guitar on metal tracks the intensity the genre demands. If anything, I want an L3 sound with a more capable DD. Other than that, I might've just found my preferred sound signature thanks to the L3.
It's so inoffensive while being plenty of fun. The only drawback being the 'meh' DD.
Now, the new pair I just bought. Out of the box, they sound completely identical to my 9-month old (heavily used pair) both using stock tips. I thought they might need burn in, but it was unnecessary. It seems that the loose connection issue has been addressed, but the dip switches are still there for show.
Ordered CIEM fits perfectly, super happy with the sound. Have just started the IEM hobby and I’ve tried BloN bl03, this is a great upgrade, bass is much cleaner and soundstage is a lot wider.
I recommended this pair to my friend since I have one; she was looking for a surprise gift for her hubby (200USD budget).
Her hubby has never tried any Chi-Fi IEMs but she decided to give it a go since Legacy 3 has custom options and she trusted me.
She chose AW07 + H01 and it turned out beautiful!
When her hubby received the earphones, he said "good sound, good isolation, good recommendation, I love it!".
He also loves the design of the earphones.
YAY! Thank you Linsoul Audio and ThieAudio!
