Amazing

Great communication throughout the whole process of delivery. Box was slightly bumped but there was absolutely no damage done. Package was very secure. Audio is great for footsteps and all around audio, best headphones I’ve personally had that’s only 100 to 155. Definitely worth buying, great product, great communication.

Slight change

I have a small echo. But it’s barely noticeable. Probably my audio settings but a GREAT headset nonetheless. I would recommend pairing it with a stand microphone instead to get max bliss in the voice chat. Cheers!

Great headphones and very comfortable.

The audio quality is very good, the headband is comfortable and the mic works great. For gaming it is almost required to get the added controller because with surround sound on I can very accurately hear the location of noises. All around great headphones and the price isn't too bad either.

Headphones are good, service isn't.

The headphones sound great, and feel very comfortable. I'm very happy with them and think they're worth it.

But when I ordered these I wasn't informed until after they shipped to the US that I had to pay a tariff fee. That should've been shown in the page with the total before I ordered, and they said if I chose not to pay they would only refund me like half the amount.

Be careful before you buy, but I love them.

Not loud enough for gaming and you have to buy extra accessories for it

I unfortunately had to buy two pairs as my first one was stolen after it was delivered. I feel that the sound quality is still worth the price I had to pay to listen to them.

THE New Budget King

I've long been a fan of Simgots line-up on IEMs and have a small collection of their offerings. The EW300, EA500, EA1000, EM6L, and the SuperMix 4. All have their own characters and are often in my rotation when I'm on the go. The newer ET142 planar set are on my wantlist, though I may wait a while for a used pair to come my way.
Naturally, when I heard that Simgot was working on a budget headphone, my interest was piqued. A dynamic, closed back HP, you say? Add to cart and check-out! Done and done.
A few weeks after putting my order in, the EP5 arrived at my office.
I wasn't sure what to expect but I was curious.

PACKAGING
Bare bones.
For $75 USD I wasn't expecting an amazing amount of accessories.
All you get in the box are the HPs themselves and a 3.5mm to dual TBS 3.5mm connector.
No carrycase (unless you count the box). No adaptors. No frills.
Hey, that's all right! That means that all of the money went into the HPs themselves and not the add-ons.

BUILD
The cups are plastic.
The headband is spring steel with a faux-leather comfort strap.
The clamp is strong without being aggressive.
The pads are relatively small and border on “on-ear” instead of “over-ear”, but my ears fit without any discomfort or rubbing.
I do wonder how many times these can be clacked on surfaces before the plastic cups start showing signs of abuse.

COMFORT
This is where I was most impressed: these are light-weight and extremely easy to wear for long periods of time.
Again, the pads themselves are a bit small so some folks may have some annoyances with them pinching or rubbing. For me, it wasn't an issue and my first few sessions were all just short of 3 hours long before I had to get up and get other things done.

ISOLATION
These are “closed-back” HPs, meaning that once the music plays, they do block out a fair amount of surrounding noise. That design also keeps most of the sound inside of the cups, though there is a bit of leakage if I put the HPs on my thighs and turn the volume up.
I think with the dial at 12:00 you should be able to get these loud enough to drown out the outside world without getting the grandma next to you on the bus ready to call the cops.

DRIVEABILITY
I ran these first off of my Motorolla G-Series with YouTube music.
Let's be honest, if you're looking at budget HPs, you probably aren't going to have a $500 DAP or portable DAC. You want something that will connect to a phone or device and get going.
These ran beautifully without any amp or dongle.
Super easy.

SOUND
Wow. I mean…wow.

Good mids, delivering clear, strong vocals.
Solid bass response without bloat.
Highs are controlled but not necessarily all that well detailed.

Bass
These are not bass canons, but they do delivery a good amount of kick and punch when tracks have been correctly recorded and mixed.
They do even better if you have access to EQ.
Out of the box, I think that they are well balanced with a pleasing bass boost.

Mids
This is a make-or-break point for me as I am a lover of strong vocals.
These did not disappoint. Male vocals are front and center, a step or two ahead of the music. Female vocals are clear and smooth without being covered up or drowned out.
Guitar riffs and keyboards are easy to distinguish and place in the venue.
Overall, these did just as well as the Fiio FT1 at half the price.

Highs
These border on “dark” as they don't reveal a huge amount of detail.
They never got peeky or uncomfortable and the crash of cymbals and strings are audible, though a bit recessed.

COMPARISIONS
I've long been underwhelmed by what the sub-$150 USD price range delivers.
Only recently were we presented with a true gem from the Fiio FT 1 at $165 USD that really punched above its weight. Since its release in late 2024, that unit has been a mainstay on any reviewer's “budget” recommendation list. Rightfully so!
Now, the Simgot are HALF of that price, but they deliver 85% of what you can get from the FT1.
The plastic cups of the EP5 don't deliver the same tone as the wooden cups offered by Fiio and the driver doesn't deliver the same

Before that, we have the Theiaudio Ghost at $130 USD, which, while having its own merits, failed to win over the audiophiles with its bloated bass and recessed mids. There were some tweaks one could make here and there to change the sound, but that defeated the purpose of a “budget” HP unless you already had extra pads to roll.
Hands down; the EP5 steam rolls the Ghost in sound, comfort, and style.
Sorry, Ghost, you're back on the shelf.

Rode released their NTH-100 shortly after for $140 USD and it eventually fell flat once it hit the market. The attempt to ride the brand name and merge the HP in with the other range of Rode products may be been a good strategy for marketing the HP to studios or podcasting set ups, but for regular, 2-channel, stereo listening, it just didn't go anywhere.
Sound-wise, ...

For context, I've never heard a high end set of headphones, but for me, these were comfortable and very fun to listen to. For my needs this was a totally worthwhile purchase.

Amazing set for the price. I'd almost call it a little brother to the Fiio FT1. For under $100 this is a great set, a little dark but with good bass and soundstage. The build quality is acceptable for the price IMO, though it doesn't exact instill confidence that it'll hold up to a beating. But it's better than most other headphones in this price range. It's not a full on closed back but it doesn't leak a ton of sound so if you're not cranking the volume then others nearby will likely not be bothered by it. The pads are comfortable but not very deep, I don't have especially large ears but they touch the foam over the driver. These respond well to pad swapping though, throw a set of sheepskin leather pads on and it increased the low end and the comfort.

Oh and these do respond well toa bass shelf if you want more thump. They start to get a little boomy but they will produce some good lowend via EQ or something like an ifi bass boost.

Headphones are insanely awesome. The external microphone cable is good but not great.

The best starter headphones?

For $86 this headphones hits far above it's weight class. I've heard worse sound in headphones that cost over $300. They are a little bass heavy, and lack a little separation in the low end, but for the price you cannot go wrong. A great starter headphone!
