Punch Audio Portazo

Punch Audio has just unveiled its second bomb, and I appreciate its continued progress in this direction. Following the Martilo, it feels like a sibling with a different character, offering a unique design and sound experience. Quite interesting.
Portazo, upon my first listen, didn't behave like a traditionally well tuned IEM. It felt more like an attempt to directly convey a DJ's internal and musical narrative to the ear. This distinction is important. The intention here goes deeper and, I think, carries more risk.

Really amazing balanced set with a noticeable rumbly bass boost and good midrange. The imaging is better than my Aful Performer 5+2 and really shines for games and directional audio scenarios. Really awesome to simulate being on stage. Guitar solos come out very natural and 3D.

The IEM shell is well made, with a beautiful emerald-like faceplace. The only weird thing is the nozzle shape, some eartips tend to curve so I need to be careful to get the best sound possible. After sticking to the Dunu S&S it was fixed.

The box has a premium opening experience, and it offers not only a good selection of tips and leather case, but also one of my favorite stock cables ever, a 4 core that is still thick and feels nice to handle, with switchable 3.5mm and 4.4mm endings.

Definitely a nice pair you should get your hands on if you're a big fans of bass-heavy music.

With a price tag of $189, I think if you already have a reference-tuned IEM, or just want an IEM with a fun and energetic sound, the Punch Audio Portazo is one of the targets you should audition. To me, the Punch Audio Portazo is not just an ordinary basshead IEM, but a basshead IEM with good midrange and treble tuning, making it quite an all-rounder for various music genres.

Excellent bass-oriented headphones with energetic sound.

The punch , has great well controlled bass and sub digs deep, mid bass is speedy and well controlled. The mids are clean with a slight warmth, treble is sparkling and detailed but smooth.

The Punch Audio Portazo is an IEM designed with a very clear goal in mind: to deliver a physical, powerful, and engaging sound, designed for those who prioritize fun and musicality over surgical analysis. The bass is the true protagonist, deep, present, and with a audible push, especially in the sub-bass, but without becoming muddy or uncontrolled. The mid-bass is full-bodied and provides rhythm and impact, making the Portazo particularly suited to electronic music, hip-hop, modern rock, and energetic pop.

The mids are slightly recessed, as expected from a V-shaped signature, but remain intelligible and coherent, with vocals never completely drowned out. The highs are well-balanced, extended enough to provide air and definition, but without becoming aggressive or fatiguing even after prolonged listening sessions.

The soundstage doesn't aim for exaggerated dimensions, but offers a credible and well-organized soundstage, in line with the product's sonic philosophy. The Portazo is a plug and play IEM, immediate and satisfying, designed for those who want to enjoy music without too many complications.

Monumental +15dB sub-bass shelf that extends from the floor (20Hz) up through the entire low-mid foundation without collapsing into mud.
Fast, controlled bass transients thanks to the composite DD with liquid-silicone suspension + LCP dome.
Dual planar magnetic tweeters deliver an airy, clean, non-fatiguing treble with reach up to 35kHz.
Warm yet surprisingly clean midrange that remains intelligible despite overwhelming bass mass
Very easy to drive (10Ω impedance, 102dB sensitivity).
Highly genre-specialized performance for bass-heavy music: hip-hop, trap, pop, EDM, big-room, club tracks, DnB.
Price to Performance ratio this is a standout !

What to say about the Punch Audio Portazo or in English "bang/door slam"... This is truly a basshead IEM, thunderous sub-bass, a rumbling thunder storm, without compromising the other frequencies.

The bass is powerful, precise, the mids and highs perfectly clear. This IEM is the closest to basshead perfection/heaven! Couldn't recommend it more.

About the Portazo
The Punch Audio Portazo is a hybrid driver IEM featuring 1 dynamic driver and 2 planar magnetic tweeters. The dynamic driver is responsible for the powerful low end, while the planar tweeters provide treble extension and detail.
Dynamic drivers often deliver the most convincing bass impact and depth, while planar tweeters can add air, space and fine detail when implemented properly. Punch Audio combines these elements to create a sound that emphasizes strong bass while maintaining clarity in the mids and treble.
The Portazo’s mission is clear: deliver thunderous bass with around a 15 dB elevation while keeping mids clean and treble extended.
The name “Portazo” literally means slam in Spanish, which already hints at the intended sound signature.
After enjoying Punch Audio’s first release, the Martilo, I was very curious how their second model would perform—especially with such an ambitious bass tuning at this price point.

Build, Accessories & Comfort
The Portazo features handcrafted resin shells with shimmering green faceplates, which stand out nicely against the black body. The shell size is medium and should fit most ears comfortably.
The included accessories are solid for the price. The cable is a thick, well-made oxygen-free copper cable and comes with modular 3.5 mm and 4.4 mm plugs, which is very convenient for switching between different sources.
The carrying case is also well sized: compact enough to remain pocketable while still offering enough space to store the IEMs, cable and some spare tips.
Comfort is excellent once the right tips are found. A good seal is essential with the Portazo because the bass performance depends heavily on proper fit.

Sound Signature
The Portazo is clearly tuned as a bass-enhanced, fun sounding IEM, but it manages to avoid becoming overly dark or muddy.
Its overall presentation is slightly warm and U-shaped, with powerful bass, clear vocals and nicely extended treble that keeps the sound lively and spacious.
Despite the strong low end, the Portazo remains surprisingly versatile and works well with a wide variety of genres.

Bass
Bass is the star of the show.
Sub-bass reaches deep and delivers a satisfying rumble, while mid-bass provides strong punch and physical impact.
The bass has a slightly slower decay which adds weight and atmosphere to music. Only in extremely bass-heavy tracks can it occasionally linger a bit longer than ideal, but overall the quality is impressive for this price range.
Importantly, the bass rarely bleeds into the mids, allowing vocals and instruments to stay clear.

Mids & Vocals
The mids are clean, natural and slightly textured.
Vocals are forward without sounding shouty, and both male and female voices are reproduced with good presence.
Male vocals benefit from the warmer tuning, while female vocals remain clear thanks to the treble extension.

Treble
Treble is well extended and provides good detail and air without becoming overly sharp. As someone who is somewhat treble sensitive, I appreciate that the Portazo remains mostly smooth even at higher listening volumes.
There is enough energy to reveal details and create space between instruments, but the tuning still prioritizes musicality over analytical sharpness.

Technicalities
Soundstage is good for the price and benefits from the extended treble. Instrument separation and imaging are solid.
Overall the presentation is cohesive, energetic and engaging rather than hyper-analytical.

Source Pairing
With an impedance of around 10 Ω, the Portazo is very easy to drive and works well with dongles, smartphones and DAPs.
It also responds to different sources. A slightly cleaner or brighter source can tighten the bass a bit and bring out more treble detail, while warmer sources emphasize the Portazo’s already strong bass presence.
Tip rolling can also slightly adjust the balance between bass and treble.

Final Thoughts
The Punch Audio Portazo delivers exactly what its name promises: slam.
It combines powerful bass, clear vocals and extended treble into a very musical and enjoyable tuning that works surprisingly well across many genres. While technicalities are not the main star, the overall presentation is clean and engaging.
For listeners who enjoy impactful bass but still want a balanced and versatile sound, the Portazo offers excellent value at its price ...

I was expecting something different from the Portazo and it delivered to me a new experience, you usually get a lot of bass but forget all the other frequencies, that's not the case here, Portazo is a rel banger!!!

Punch Audio Portazo

hey deliver powerful sound with deep, punchy bass, yet still keep the mids clear and the highs bright. They’re comfortable, well-built, and perfect for energetic music. Not the most neutral set, but definitely one of the most fun I’ve tried. Check review: https://youtu.be/F3Q4NMRKRb8
