Balanced Armature

Small receivers.
Many ways to tune.

Explore miniature receivers used alone, in all-BA arrays and alongside other driver families. Follow the mechanism, then compare the complete IEM rather than its driver count.

Includes products containing this technology, whether used alone or in a multi-driver design.

Inside the technology

What to consider

Compact building blocks

A BA receiver packages a small acoustic mechanism into a housing. Designers can use one receiver, several of the same technology, or combine BAs with other driver families.

All-BA is not a hybrid

Multiple balanced-armature units are still one technology family. A hybrid combines different families. The product cards preserve that distinction.

Listen to the handover

When drivers share frequency duties, judge the complete tuning. Vocals, bass and treble should work together for your taste; counting receivers is not a listening test.

Worth knowing
before you choose.

Are balanced armatures only for treble?

No. Receiver designs can be selected for different frequency duties. Check the actual configuration.

Is an eight-BA IEM a hybrid?

Not from that description alone: eight BAs remain one driver-technology family.

Does BA mean Balanced sound?

No. Balanced Armature is a construction term; Balanced sound is a separate tonal descriptor.

Sources and diagram context

The construction drawings are conceptual and not to scale. Model-specific claims belong to the linked product documentation.

Technical references checked September 2026. No frequency-response curve is generated from a technology label.

Shop by sound

Prefer to start
with the sound?

Pick a tonal direction first. On a technology page, the products above narrow to that sound.

Fuller body and a gentler upper balance.

Illustrative tilt, not a measurement.
